Selection Interviewing

The open and transparent selecting of the right people for the right job is exceptionally important in the context of providing our staff equal opportunity for self development and organisational integrity. This module allows the delegate to plan, prepare and conduct a fair selection procedure in accordance with the MPS Standard Operating Procedure for Internal Selection.

Who is it for?

This module is for all MPS personnel involved in the selection and recruitment of staff.

Main learning outcomes

  • Identify the preparation and planning necessary to conduct an effective selection interview.
  • Identify the four values of the MPS and  link them to the selection interview process.
  • Identify the barriers to conducting an effective selection interview and how to overcome them.
  • Define and understand the equal opportunities legislation and relevant MPS policy.
  • Explain the rationale behind essential and desirable criteria and identify the areas to be examined within the selection interview.
  • Identify the different question types used to conduct an effective selection interview.
  • Practice the skills and techniques required to conduct a selection interview.
  • Practice the MPS scoring system and recognise how to give constructive feedback to candidates.

A one day non-residential module for 8 delegates, deliverable at any suitable MPS training location.
